Once upon a time… at Shiz University, Elphaba is the new witch in town. Bullied for her vibrant green skin, she embraces her differences and begins to present her natural flair for all things magic. Always the odd one out, she’s paired with her new roommate: the popular and pretty witch, Glinda, who’s a would-be Mean Girls’ “plastic” in this land of Oz. Despite their differences, they form an unlikely, yet formidable friendship.

Trouble soon brews when Elphaba receives an invitation to meet the Wonderful Wizard of Oz. With Glinda in tow, she heads to the Emerald City but discovers this magical opportunity brings mortal danger as Oz has great and terrible plans that put them both on very different paths.

While Elphaba is villainised, Glinda’s wishes are granted. Pitted against each other in a showdown between good and wicked, they must now prove their friendship is more powerful than any magic.

Leading an enchanting cast, pop princess Ariana Grande stars as Glinda with Emmy, Grammy, and Tony-winner Cynthia Erivo as Elphaba. Keala Settle, Peter Dinklage, Jonathan Bailey, and Ethan Slater all witness the rise of magic at Shiz, while Michelle Yeoh’s Madame Morrible and Jeff Goldblum’s Oz plot evilness behind the scenes.

Grab your brooms for the first of a spectacular two-part fantasy musical adventure that brings the stage sensation to its new home on the big screen… there’s no place like it.

The Wicked Years

Gregory Maguire’s book series takes a sideways look at L. Frank Baum’s original novel and its legendary 1939 film adaptation, painting a vision of Oz as seen through Elphaba’s eyes.

Wicked: The Musical

Loosely based on the first novel in Maguire’s series, this Tony-winning Broadway phenomenon first took the stage in 2003 and still remains one of London’s leading musicals after eighteen years of magic.
