Having made his name with The Haunting Of Hill House, Midnight Mass, and other scary stories, it’s something of a surprise that Mike Flanagan’s collaboration with Stephen King isn’t another in that same vein. Instead, the masters of horror leave the genre behind for a life-affirming tale that’s closer related to King’s more sentimental stories such as A Shawshank Redemption, The Green Mile, and Stand By Me. That’s not to say elements of horror are gone for good, there’s certainly a haunting atmosphere in a heartstring tugging trailer for a genre-bending tale with universal appeal and cosmic implications. The only light shed on the story so far is that it’s the life story an ordinary man, Charles Krantz; told in three chapters, and in reverse. The trailer introduces Tom Hiddleston as grown-up Chuck, with Jacob Tremblay, Benjamin Pajak, and Cody Flanagan as his younger counterparts. A tantalising supporting cast also features Mark Hamill, Chiwetel Ejiofor, Karen Gillan, Matthew Lillard, Mia Sara, and Nick Offerman.
