Playing With Evil
An unsuspecting group of college friends unleash an unspeakable evil trapped within cursed cards when they break the age-old rules of tarot reading.
Words Hannah Taylor
Last year, Evil Dead Rise taught us to never recite passages from mysterious books and Talk To Me saw teens pay the ultimate price for taking a party game too far. Now, a group of college friends find their fate in a deck of cards after recklessly violating the rules of tarot.
Soon learning that you must never use someone else’s deck, the friends face the wrath of a strange, supernatural entity. As an evil curse starts picking them off one by one in ways that relate back to their readings, they must join forces and work together to solve the mystery before time runs out for them all.
Avantika, most recently seen as Karen in Mean Girls, and Jacob Batalon, you’ll know as Spider-Man’s bestie Ned, are the most notable names in a cast of up-and- coming stars including Harriet Slater, Adain Bradley, and Larsen Thompson. They’re joined by Olwen Fouèrè, who returns to horror following her role in Netflix’s Texas Chainsaw Massacre.
Tarot is the latest supernatural horror from Screen Gems, who helmed Deliver Us From Evil, The Unholy, and The Invitation. With an exciting young cast largely making their mainstream horror debuts and writing duo Spenser Cohen and Anna Halberg as first-time directors, it’s hard to know exactly what’s on the cards… but it’s sure to be scary.
