He’s an average guy with an ordinary job and a pretty chill life. But, there’s one thing that makes him different to everyone else: Nathan Caine can feel no pain.

A rare condition known as CIPA – Congenital Insensitivity to Pain with Anhidrosis – prevents his nerves from feeling physical pain and has been a hinderance his whole life, but it’s about to become his secret weapon.

When the love of his life is kidnapped, Nathan fearlessly throws himself into harms way without even a flinch to rescue her.

Jack Quaid brings the familiar down-to-earth everyman charm from his role as Hughie in The Boys, but this time, he’s the one with the special ability. With no fighting experience, though, he must improvise to fight off the dangerous gang who’ve got his girl.

Ray Nicholson stars as the criminal gang’s leader, Amber Midthunder is Nathan’s girlfriend, and Spider-Man’s bestie Jacob Batalon is by Nathan’s side to help plan his every move on this daring rescue mission.

Nathan may not be able to feel pain, but the stakes are still life or death in this intense action-comedy thriller that doesn’t hold back on the laughs or pull any punches.

No Pain, No Gain

Punches, stab wounds, third degree burns, torture, and more… Nathan Caine is put through the wringer in Novocaine. While action hero Nathan Caine can’t feel pain, Jack Quaid the actor can. It’s a unique role and an incredible amount of effort went into it, not only in learning how to take hits, but also to make sure he never shows any sign of pain from any of it. To make everything seem as authentic as possible, directors Dan Berk and Robert Olsen along with Quaid himself wanted the action to be as real as possible. Walking the tightrope between no-punches-pulled action and nerveless reactions, the crew were blown away by Quaid’s commitment; often repeating takes multiple times to ensure they got the one they wanted.
