Mufasa: The Lion King Trailer
A roaring trailer for Disney’s Lion King prequel turns back the clock to reveal the origin story of the two cubs who grow up to become legends: Mufasa and Scar.
The sequel to the 2019 film serves as a prequel to the story we all know and love. Told through flashbacks – as remembered by Rafiki, a little embellishment from fan-favourites Timon and Pumbaa – Mufasa: The Lion King takes us back to a time before Simba to reveal how his father came to be king. The trailer sees how two young cubs - one a prince who would later be known as Scar and the other Mufasa, who's lost and alone until he's taken in by a new pride - bond like brothers and grow up to fulfil their destinies. Only, their futures are under threat from a villainous white lion who has his plans to rule the pride. As well as showcasing a thrilling new side to a timeless tale and more of the stunning photorealistic CG animation, the trailer also introduces an even more stacked voice cast that’s been assembled. Aaron Pierre stars as the voice of Mufasa, with Kelvin Harrison Jr, Tiffany Boone, Kagiso Lediga, Mads Mikkelsen, Thandiwe Newton, Lennie James, Anika Noni Rose, and Keith David as the pride of lions we’ve never met before. That’s not all, as John Kani, Seth Rogen, Billy Eichner, Donald Glover, and Beyoncé Knowles-Carter all reprise their roles from The Lion King, and her daughter Blue Ivy Carter make her acting debut as Simba and Nala’s daughter Kiara. Music is still close to the heart to The Lion King and this powerful, emotion tale of how an orphaned cub, lost and alone, meets a sympathetic lion and joins the royal bloodline will be supported by with new, original songs from Lin-Manuel Miranda.
