The Hunt Begins
Sink your teeth into another iconic Spider-Man villain origin story as Aaron Taylor-Johnson brings Kraven The Hunter to the big screen.
Words Luke Croucher
Aaron Taylor-Johnson and Russell Crowe star as Sergei and Nikolai Kravinoff, father and son whose bond is broken. During a hunt, they encounter a lion that Sergei can’t kill and attacks him ferociously as a result. Disappointed by his son’s failure, he leaves his child for dead. But Nikolai is unaware that this is anything but the end of Sergei’s story.
Through another strange blood transfusion, Sergei is not only able to survive, but is gifted animalistic abilities including agility, strength, and predator-like senses. It is on this day that the legendary Kraven The Hunter is born. Using his connection with animals, Kraven hungers to hunt down everybody on his hit list, including his own father! And once you’re on this lethal hunter’s list, there’s only one way off…
A Most Violent Year and Triple Frontier director J.C. Chandor directs from a script from The Equalizer scribe Richard Wenk and Iron Man and Uncharted screenwriting duo Art Marcum and Matt Holloway; a behind-the-scenes team who really know how to get the blood bumping.
A super-antihero origin story colliding with a good old-fashioned revenge plot is enticing enough, but what makes this expansion of Sony’s Spider-Man Universe so exciting is that no punches are being pulled in its bloodiest and most brutal chapter yet.
Sinister Implications
Venom
An alien who’s always hungry for human brains and has attached itself to journalist Eddie Brock. Tom Hardy’s antihero saves the world from fellow symbiotes Riot and Carnage.
Morbius
Jared Leto’s Dr Michael Morbius goes to extreme measures to cure his rare blood disease but accidentally infects himself with DNA that turns him into a human-bat hybrid. The Living Vampire is menacing enough alone, but all the more with Michael Keaton’s Vulture as his wingman.
Rhino
Kraven isn’t the only man beast in Sergei’s story as the lethal hunter will come face to face with Rhino, with Alessandro Nivola transforming into the strong, thick-skinned villain. What sinister implications will all of these comic book villains have for everyone’s favourite webslinger? Spidey-sense is tingling!
