Following a trailer tease Ryan Reynolds shared yesterday that hilariously poked fun at the current cinema scheduling chaos by preparing for every possible release date, the new trailer we were promised arrives to confirm the December release and take us deeper into the crazy world of Free City. It’s there where we once again meet Reynolds’ oh-so average Guy, a non-player character (NPC) who’s unaware he’s living inside a video game and wants to break free from his repetitive life to find love. After meeting a mysterious girl, Guy follows her and she reveals the truth about his world and also gives him special glasses that let him see it for himself. But that’s not the trailer’s only shocking revelation as it turns out Molotov Girl aka Milly is a real player being controlled by Jodie Comer’s character in the outside world. With newfound freedome and the ability to break the game’s code, Guy’s reputation as the heroic “blue shirt guy” draws a lot of attention but also the ire of the game’s maniacal developer Antoine, played by Taika Waititi. With Antoine fed up of his game going out of control, Guy and Milly must team up to save this thriving video game world from being shut down. Like a live-action Wreck-It Ralph set in the world of Grand Theft Auto, Free Guy is sure to entertain when it explodes into cinemas this December.
