Full of shocks and surprises, the full trailer starts by retelling the revelation from the first look at the film as Maggie Smith’s Dowager Countess of Grantham spills, in typically dramatic fashion, secrets of a past romance that has now resulted in her owning a villa in the South of France. That’s not all, the trailer gives glimpses at some of the new and continuing dilemmas in the lives of those living within the abbey as Hugh Bonneville, Laura Carmichael, Jim Carter, Brendan Coyle, and the rest of the principal cast all return. But all of that soon pales into insignificance when news breaks that Hollywood is coming to Downton. That’s right, Hugh Dancy’s producer-director Mr Barber intends to shoot his latest major motion picture at Downton with Dominic West’s Guy Dexter as his star and Laura Haddock as his leading lady. With Downton thrown into disarray as the abbey transforms into a film set, the Crawleys set off to the South of France to uncover the mystery of the Dowager Countess’ newly inherited villa.
