The wait has been long. The wait has been extended. The wait…is almost over!

It’s finally time to travel back to the vibrant alien world of Pandora as James Cameron returns with the first of four planned epics in the Avatar franchise.

A decade on from the events of the first film – where Jake Sully and Neytiri helped the native Na’vi fight off human space imperialists – we now find Sam Worthington and Zoe Saldaña’s characters living with their newly formed family on Pandora.

However, any thoughts of a quiet life in paradise are short lived as they’re thrust on a dangerous, thrilling, and visually stunning new adventure to protect their world from an all-new threat. The majority of the original cast reprise their roles, including Stephen Lang’s villainous Colonel Miles Quaritch, who returns sporting a fresh look, and Sigourney Weaver, who takes on a new Avatar entirely. The Na’vi defenders will also join forces with Cliff Curtis’ Tonowari and Kate Winslet’s Ronal, the leaders of the water-based Metkayina clan, who are among the exciting new faces to the franchise.

Riding the waves of its legendary predecessor, the next chapter showcases groundbreaking new technology to reveal a stunning new side of Pandora.

Prepare to have your mind blown and your breath taken away once more as you dive deep into this evolving cinematic universe.

Making Waves

James Cameron loves exploring the boundaries of cinema technology. After his own record-breaking Mariana Trench dive, he’s pushing the boat out further than ever for the first Avatar sequel. Cameron reunites with New Zealand based visual effects masters Weta FX to conjure jaw-dropping visuals that retain the aesthetic of the original while enhancing all the aspects of the world in every possible way. They even invented new underwater motion-capture technology, where cast members were submerged in a giant water tank, to perfectly replicate the ocean’s currents and make the aquatic adventure as authentic as possible. Avatar shattered all expectations in 2009, the ambition to do that again makes The Way Of The Water one of the must-see movie spectacles of the year.
