Getting Chills
With Gozer’s return in the rear-view mirror, the Spenglers go back to where it all began to help the original Ghostbusters prevent a Death Chill from taking over New York… and the world.
Words Aaron Potter
After summoning the Ghostbusters’ spirits to life once again for a new generation with Ghostbusters: Afterlife, writer-director Jason Reitman returns with a sequel but relinquishes directing duties to his screenwriting partner Gil Kenan for the fifth instalment in the supernatural series.
Ghostbusters: Frozen Empire picks up soon after Afterlife’s epic and emotional finale, with the Spengler trio – Mckenna Grace’s Phoebe, Carrie Coon’s Callie, and Finn Wolfhard’s Trevor – plus Paul Rudd’s Gary Grooberson swapping the small town of Summerville for a familiar new home in the Big Apple.
Back in New York, the nostalgia is ramped up even higher, especially with original Ghostbusters Bill Murray’s Peter Venkman, Dan Aykroyd’s Ray Stantz, and Ernie Hudson’s Winston Zeddemore back in ghost-busting action. The old firehouse is back, the Ecto-1 is back, as are the proton packs, too. But those goosebumps aren’t just from nostalgia chills, there’s a new frozen enemy in town: an evil dubbed “the Death Chill” threatening to plunge New York into a second Ice Age. It’s sure to send a shiver down everyone’s spine and put both generations of Ghostbusters to the ultimate test as they prove that they truly ain’t afraid of no ghost.
Stranger Things
From Gozer to Vigo the Carpathian and Terror Dogs to a ten-storey tall Marshmallow Man, all sorts of ghosts have already been busted, now Ghostbusters new and old must come together to face the most chilling yet.
Mini-Pufts
The snack-sized versions of the Stay Puft monster from the original film bring their wicked sense of humour and marshmallowy mischief from Summerville to New York City.
Slimer
The very first ghost the original crew ever busted is back and greedier than ever. The glowing green ghoul has escaped its ghost trap is ready to wreak havoc all over again.
The Death Chill
Sub-zero temperatures in the middle of summer isn’t the only strange thing the Ghostbusters will encounter… there’s a spectral creature known as the Sewer Dragon and an all-new evil that can kill by the power of fear itself.
